Samuel Ashitey Adjei
Executive chairman & Co-founder

Samuel Ashitey Adjei is the Executive Chairman and Co – Founder of Shemen Impact. Until the end of April 2019 he was the Executive Vice President – Ecobank Group and Regional Managing Director – Central, Eastern and Southern Africa (CESA) Region of Ecobank Group.

In his capacity as Regional Managing Director, he was responsible for managing and supervising 18 Managing Directors and 2 Chiefs of Representative offices in the 20 Ecobank affiliates in the CESA Region based in Nairobi, Kenya with a balance sheet of over USD 4 Billion and Human Resources of over 3,500 people. Fundamentally the role has the responsibility of growing the Bank’s market share in the Region, ensuring sustained financial performance, outperforming competition, protecting Ecobank’s reputation in the market place, presenting and coordinating a professional interface with regulators, government, customers, staff, shareholders and other stakeholders and the Group Office. Prior to this he was the Cluster Managing Director of WAMZ Cluster of Ecobank Group (comprising Ghana, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Gambia and Liberia) from January 2010 to March 31, 2016.

He managed the 3,000 staff cluster to become the most profitable and the most efficient cluster within the Ecobank Group. He developed and executed all strategies within the cluster resulting in significant growth over the years. The WAMZ cluster has been the leading PBT contributor to the Group for the past four years. He also held Directorship positions as Board Member of Ecobank Cameroun, Ghana, Zimbabwe and Managing Director Ecobank, Kenya. He was also a Board Member of Investment Advisory Committee of the Ghana Petroleum Funds, Ghana Community Network Services Limited (GCNET), Ghana Prisons Service and Chairman, Students in Free Enterprises (SIFE Ghana).

Samuel Ashitey Adjei is an accomplished Banker with more than 25 years of experience in executive positions spanning various areas of banking within the Ecobank Group in Africa. A proven track record of accomplishments in strategically growing bank assets, revenues and profitability. Experience in bank acquisition and integration and stock exchange listing. A highly effective executive with great team-building and people skills, strong leadership, problem solving, decision making and execution abilities and an eye for the bottom-line, delivering multi-million dollar profits.

He holds an MBA (Finance) and Bsc (Hons) Mathematics & Statistics degree from the University of Ghana Legon. He completed a Financial Management Program at Stanford University, Palo Alto, California, USA in 1998. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, (FCIB) Ghana.

Samuel Kwadwo Sarpong
CeO & Co-Founder

Samuel Kwadwo Sarpong is a Co – Founder and CEO of Shemen Impact. He was also a founding member and Chief Executive Officer of C4BT Consulting Limited (C4BT), a management consulting firm operating in Ghana and the West Africa Sub region. Samuel has also held the position of Executive Secretary of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) for a period of 5 years. Before becoming the Executive Secretary, he was the Vice Chairman of the Technical Committee and a member of the Finance & Administration Committee of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) for over five (5) years.

The PURC is the Regulatory Agency responsible for Economic Regulation of Utility Service Providers for Electricity, Water & Natural Gas Transportation in Ghana. During this period, he gained progressive responsible experience in implementing the mandate and functions of the Commission.

Prior to this, Samuel was a Senior Manager of PricewaterhouseCoopers and provided direction and managerial oversight for the Corporate and Operations Strategy Services, Process Consulting Services, Human Resources and Organisational Development Services and Information Technology team in the Ghana office.

Samuel has strong management skills as demonstrated through the numerous project assignments he managed for PricewaterhouseCoopers. He has directed and managed consulting assignments in various African countries (including Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Senegal, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, and South Africa). He also worked with Public Sector of PricewaterhouseCoopers office in Arlington, USA and Jamaica to project manage assignments in Africa. Samuel has also managed several financial, information technology, strategy, operational and organisational restructuring consultancy assignments in both the public and private sectors.

He holds an Executive MBA from the University of Ghana and a BSc (Hons) Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Science and Technology. He is also an honorary member of the Ghana Institute of Engineers.

Morgan F. Asiedu
partner | Legal Advisory

Lawyer Morgan F. Asiedu is a Partner and Technical Director responsible for Legal Advisory Services at Shemen Impact Limited. He is a seasoned Legal Professional with over thirty-three years of Legal experience. He spent twenty-seven years in corporate life working for Ecobank, The Pan African Bank. Twenty-one of these years saw him in the Board room serving as either an Executive Director or Company Secretary.

As Group General Counsel and Company Secretary of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI), The Parent Company of the Ecobank Group, Morgan was the Chief Legal Adviser to both the Board and Management of the Ecobank Group with a presence in 33 African countries and with offices in France, UK and China. Morgan later served as Executive Director for Ecobank Ghana Limited with oversight for Legal, Human Resource and Compliance Departments. He is also a former Acting Managing Director of Ecobank Ghana Limited. Through these roles Morgan has gathered a wealth of experience in Leadership and Governance, Compliance, Commercial Law and practice, Mergers and Acquisitions, Risk Management, Employment and Labour related matters.

In his role as Chief Legal Counsel to both the Board and Management of the Ecobank Group, Morgan played a critical role in two game changing acquisitions by Ecobank in Nigeria and Ghana that moved Ecobank Nigeria from the fourteenth to the fifth position in the Nigerian banking market, and Ecobank Ghana to the first position. Morgan also advised in the raising of the necessary capital (over USD 700 million) to fund the acquisition and capital needs of the Ecobank group during his era.

Morgan now serves on various Boards and is currently among others, the Chairman of the Council for Scripture Union Ghana, a not-for-profit Christian organization with primary focus on bible study in Senior and Junior High Schools; and Chairman for Invest in Africa, Ghana, a not-for-profit organization that aims to attract investments into Africa and help position African SMEs by providing them with access to skills, finance and markets.

Morgan holds an Executive MBA (Entrepreneurial Management) and a BA (Law /Sociology) from the University of Ghana and an MA in Theology from the Akrofi Christaller Institute of Theology Missions and Culture. He also completed Columbia Business School’s Executive Education Program, High Impact Leadership.

Prof. Anthony Annan
Partner | Financial Advisory

Professor Anthony Annan, or Tony as he is commonly known, is a Partner and Technical Director responsible for Financial Advisory Services at Shemen Impact Limited. He is a seasoned financial management expert with a career spanning 25 years. He is also a Professor at Georgetown University, teaching courses on financial management and global business at the graduate and undergraduate levels

Tony brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles, having worked with various private, public, and international organizations, driving corporate strategy, financial management, strategic planning, and resource allocation. Before entering academia, Tony was the Executive Vice President and Senior Advisor at the Whitaker Group, a strategic advisory firm in Washington D.C., focused on serving public and private sector clients across Sub-Saharan Africa. At the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington D.C., he was the Deputy Division Chief, providing leadership for Resource Management and Strategic Budgeting division. While working at Ecobank Transnational, Tony served as the Group’s Chief Financial Officer and provided financial leadership and financial regulatory oversights for operations in 33 countries. Before joining IMF, Tony was a Vice President and CFO of the Institutional Clients Group (ICG) at Citigroup Inc. in New York. In this role, he was responsible for the Group’s financial performance and strategy.

Also, he integrated 230 employees into the existing team during the merger of the original Corporate Client Services group with the Middle Market Fixed Income & Equities Trading business, resulting in the formation of ICG, with over 350 professionals across the U.S., U.K., and Australia. Tony has also held Head of Treasury positions at Standard Bank Group and First Atlantic Merchant Bank, where he managed the assets and liabilities of the banks. He started his career as a finance manager at Ghana’s Volta River Authority and Electricity Company of Ghana.

Tony holds a doctorate in Finance and Business Administration from Georgia State University, an MBA in finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and an MSc in Operations Research and Mathematics from the Warsaw School of Economics. His expertise in financial management has earned him certification in business valuation analysis, and he is a former National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA) member.

James Sagoe

James Sagoe is the Finance Executive at Shemen Impact Limited. He is a highly experienced Finance / Management Executive and a Banker who has demonstrated the ability to lead diverse teams of professionals to new levels of success in a multinational fast-paced working environment, and a local banking environment. Until June, 2021, James was Standford University, California, USA, Seed Transformation Program (STP) Facilitator for Francophone Countries in West Africa.

In his role as STP Facilitator, Mr. Sagoe was responsible for translating the intensive curriculum of value chain operations, accounting, strategy / organisational design, finance, marketing, governance and other related fields delivered during the Stanford Transformation Program (STP) into practical insight for leaders and management teams of small to mid-sized companies in West Africa.

James has a strong technical and business qualification with an impressive track record of more than 30 years of hands-on experience in Strategic Planning, Business Unit Development, Accounting Systems Re-engineering and Financial Analysis. He has proven expertise exhibited during the management positions he held at Agricultural Development Bank and Universal Merchant Bank. As the Executive Head, Finance and Planning of the Agricultural Development Bank, he provided financial and management accountancy support and technical advice to the Bank to ensure the comprehensive analysis of financial information for planning and controlling the material and financial resources of the Bank as well as provide financial data for Management / Board decision-making. In his role as a Chief Accountant of Volta Aluminium Company (VALCO), formerly a subsidiary Kaiser Aluminium and Chemical Corporation of USA, he successfully analysed the organisation’s critical requirements, identified deficiencies / potential opportunities and developed innovative and cost-effective solutions for enhancing competitiveness, improving efficiency and increasing revenues.

He is a Chartered Accountant of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana and holds an Executive MBA (Finance) degree from the University of Ghana Business School, Ghana. James is serving as a member of the Education and Training Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana and is the Board Chairman of several companies.
